# Trade Copier Setup Guide for PickMyTrade

To complete your **trade copier setup** in PickMyTrade, connect Tradovate, select one admin account, add the follower accounts, activate them and set their quantity multipliers. Start the copier, then verify a small demo entry and exit on every account before using it for live or funded trading.

This guide covers the Manual Trade Copier on **pickmytrade.trade**. You place the source trade manually in Tradovate, or through TradingView with Tradovate connected, and copy it to configured Tradovate followers. ProjectX copying on pickmytrade.io is a separate workflow.

The setup is only complete when you’ve checked what reaches each follower. A saved account list, an active connection and a successful master fill each tell you something different. None of them alone proves that every follower received the intended order.

## Trade copier setup: which workflow do you need? {#trade-copier-setup-which-workflow-do-you-need}

Use the Manual Trade Copier when a trade placed on an admin account should be mirrored to followers. Use multi-account alert configuration when a TradingView strategy or indicator should send orders to several destinations. Decide which route owns the trade before enabling either feature.

| Your goal | Use this workflow | Where to configure it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Copy manually placed Tradovate trades | Manual Trade Copier | pickmytrade.trade |
| Copy manual TradingView trades with Tradovate as the broker | Manual Trade Copier | pickmytrade.trade plus the TradingView broker connection |
| Send a strategy or indicator alert to several Tradovate accounts | Multi-account alert routing | PickMyTrade alert generation |
| Copy from a ProjectX master to supported followers | ProjectX Trade Copier | pickmytrade.io |

The [multi-account alert guide](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/place-trades-in-multiple-accounts/) explains the alert-routing alternative. Don’t configure the same event to reach a follower through both an alert route and the copier unless you have deliberately accounted for the duplicate instruction.

For the ProjectX workflow, follow the separate [ProjectX Trade Copier guide](https://docs.pickmytrade.io/docs/projectx-trade-copier-pickmytrade/). Its connection requirements and manual order screen should not be copied into a Tradovate setup tutorial.

## What should you check before connecting the accounts? {#what-should-you-check-before-connecting-the-accounts}

Prepare the exact admin and follower account names, their broker-login grouping and the size each follower should receive. Confirm that each account can trade the instrument and that its broker or prop firm permits the intended copying arrangement. Begin with a demo configuration and a known starting position.

- One Tradovate account designated as admin or master.
- The Tradovate subaccounts that should follow it.
- An additional connected PickMyTrade account when a follower uses a different Tradovate login.
- An active subscription and any required account-access approval.
- A written expected quantity for each follower.
- A plan for checking entries, working orders and exits.

PickMyTrade’s [Tradovate copier overview](https://pickmytrade.trade/tradovate-trade-copier/) states that subaccounts under one broker login are covered by one subscription, while additional broker logins require additional subscriptions. A broker login and a trading subaccount are different things, so count the logins before planning access.

Use an admin account whose trade size fits your intended follower allocation. Account labels such as “50K” or “150K” don’t establish the permitted position size or available drawdown. Work from each account’s actual limits.

## Step 1: connect Tradovate and choose the admin account {#step-1-connect-tradovate-and-choose-the-admin-account}

Sign in to PickMyTrade on pickmytrade.trade and connect the intended Tradovate login. Check the connection state and account list, then open Manual Trade Copier. Select the account that will originate the trades. The documented Tradovate copier setup supports one admin account.

Distinguish the broker connection from the copier’s running state. The connection authorizes access to Tradovate; the copier needs its own activation after the destinations are configured. Review both before placing the first source order.

Record the admin account’s exact name and trading environment. Demo and live accounts can appear in a similar interface. Verify the destination rather than relying on an account’s position in a dropdown.

## Step 2: add and activate the follower accounts {#step-2-add-and-activate-the-follower-accounts}

For followers under the same Tradovate login, add the desired subaccounts to the copier configuration and ensure they are active. For a different Tradovate login, use that login’s connected PickMyTrade account and the token/account details required by the copier form.

The [Manual Trade Copier documentation](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/tradingview-to-tradovate-trade-copier/) describes both paths. Use the current Add Account or Add Client Account form rather than a field layout from an older screenshot. Confirm the selected admin remains the same as you add each follower.

If you’re managing a separate client or child account, complete the required access approval first. The [account management guide](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/pickmytrade-account-management/) explains pending requests, accepted access and subscription status. An account visible in management is not automatically an active copier destination.

Keep tokens private. Enter them only into the authorized setup fields, and remove them from screenshots or public examples. Give every follower a clear label so its log entries are easy to match with the broker account.

## Step 3: set each follower’s quantity multiplier {#step-3-set-each-followers-quantity-multiplier}

A quantity multiplier scales the source order’s quantity for that follower. A multiplier of 1 keeps the source size, 2 doubles it and 3 triples it. Set the multiplier per follower; the number of followers is not the multiplier.

| Admin order | Follower multiplier | Expected follower quantity |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 contract | 1 | 1 contract |
| 1 contract | 2 | 2 contracts |
| 2 contracts | 3 | 6 contracts |
| 3 contracts | 1 | 3 contracts |

If your admin trades three contracts and you want three contracts on each of three followers, use a multiplier of 1 for each follower. A multiplier of 3 would request nine contracts on each of those followers, not divide nine contracts between them.

These examples use whole-number multipliers to make the expected result explicit. The source attachment included minimum-value and fractional-rounding rules that were not established by the current Tradovate documentation checked for this guide. Don’t assume fractional quantities or rounding behavior; confirm what the form accepts and verify the resulting broker order.

Multipliers allocate quantity, not a guaranteed dollar risk. Different account balances, stop distances and trading limits still matter. Review the combined exposure before adding more followers.

## Step 4: connect TradingView if you will trade from its chart {#step-4-connect-tradingview-if-you-will-trade-from-its-chart}

For manual chart trading, connect TradingView to the same Tradovate admin account that the copier monitors. In TradingView’s Trading Panel, choose Tradovate, connect the intended environment and select the correct account before sending an order. The copier route follows the admin account, not the chart tab’s title.

Follow the [Tradovate-to-TradingView connection guide](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/connecting-your-tradovate-account-to-tradingview-pickmytrade-guide/) for the broker add-on and access requirements. Check the current broker settings for availability and fees rather than relying on an old price quoted in a blog.

If you place the source trade directly in Tradovate, this chart connection is not the manual TradingView path you need to configure. PickMyTrade’s product overview also describes copying trades placed directly in Tradovate. Test the actual source interface you plan to use.

## Step 5: start the copier and verify an entry and exit {#step-5-start-the-copier-and-verify-an-entry-and-exit}

After reviewing the account list, active settings and quantities, start the copier and confirm its connected/running state. Begin from a known position on every account. For a first test, flat accounts with no unrelated working orders make the results much easier to interpret.

1. Use demo accounts and a small source order supported by the workflow.
2. Check the admin’s broker order status and filled quantity.
3. Inspect every follower for the correct contract, action and quantity.
4. If protective orders are part of the test, confirm the stop and target are present on every intended account.
5. Close the test position from the source interface.
6. Verify that all intended followers are flat and that no unwanted working orders remain.
7. Compare the copier’s Trade History with the broker order records.

An entry test is only half the check. A follower that opened correctly can still require attention during a modification, cancellation or exit. Repeat the test for the operations you actually use before increasing size.

Don’t treat starting the copier as proof that existing positions were synchronized. The documentation reviewed does not establish a general retroactive position-sync feature. Reconcile any pre-existing exposure before letting new copied orders interact with it.

## Which orders and advanced exits should you test? {#which-orders-and-advanced-exits-should-you-test}

The current Manual Trade Copier guide lists market, limit, stop and stop-limit orders, but its bracket instructions conflict. An explicit note says TP/SL brackets are supported only with market entries, while a later list describes broader support. Use market-entry brackets for the initial test and confirm other combinations with support.

| Order or behavior | How to handle it in your setup |
| --- | --- |
| Market entry with one TP/SL pair | Initial documented test path; confirm all follower protective orders |
| Limit, stop or stop-limit entry | Test placement, modification, cancellation and fills independently |
| TP/SL attached to a non-market entry | Works and sync to all follower accounts |
| Trailing stop, automatic breakeven or auto-trail | The manual copier guide lists these as unsupported |
| Multiple target/bracket sets on one entry | The guide lists multi-target setups as unsupported |
| Partial close | Test the exact source operation and resulting quantities; don’t assume support from another copier |

Features available in Tradovate itself are not necessarily replicated by the Manual Trade Copier. Likewise, risk controls available through PickMyTrade webhook alerts don’t establish support in the manual copier. Keep the two workflows separate when checking a feature.

## Why can follower fills or stop executions differ? {#why-can-follower-fills-or-stop-executions-differ}

Copied orders do not guarantee identical fills. Each account’s orders are processed separately, so entry prices, execution times and stop outcomes can differ. PickMyTrade’s [Tradovate sync and stop-fill notice](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/tradovate-sync-notice-stop-order-fill-difference-funded-demo-accounts/) explains independent matching and queue behavior in demo and funded environments.

Use the order records to decide what happened. A filled master order, a working follower order and a rejected follower order are different states. Check quantities and protection rather than judging synchronization from the chart’s displayed price alone.

This guide makes no fixed end-to-end latency promise and sets no universal “normal” price-gap threshold. A missing order or persistent position mismatch needs investigation, even if minor fill differences can occur. Stop sending new entries when the account state is uncertain.

## Trade copier setup troubleshooting: where should you look first? {#trade-copier-setup-troubleshooting-where-should-you-look-first}

Troubleshoot one source event at a time. Confirm that it occurred on the selected admin, that the copier was active, and that the intended follower was enabled. Then compare the copier event with that follower’s broker order status. This sequence separates a configuration error from an execution issue.

| Symptom | First check | Next action |
| --- | --- | --- |
| No followers receive a trade | Admin selection, broker connection and copier running state | Confirm the source trade occurred on the monitored account |
| One follower misses the trade | Active setting, account name, access and connection | Inspect the follower’s copier message and broker rejection |
| Follower quantity is wrong | Source filled quantity and follower multiplier | Compare expected quantity with the actual submitted order |
| Orders appear twice | Other copier groups or alert routes targeting the same account | Remove the unintended duplicate route after reconciling orders |
| Protective order is missing | Entry type and supported bracket combination | Review current restrictions before relying on protection |
| Follower remains open after an exit | Exit event, broker order status and remaining quantity | Reconcile it directly in the broker and investigate the failed event |
| Stopping or flattening affects unexpected accounts | Exact control and its confirmation dialog | Verify scope and final position on every account |

The supplied attachment describes a follower-only Liquidate All Trades action in its ProjectX-focused workflow. Don’t transfer that claim to every Tradovate control. Read the current confirmation dialog, establish whether the action closes positions or cancels orders, and verify the result on both admin and followers.

For a support request, include the event time and timezone, symbol, source order ID, affected follower order ID where available, and the relevant log message. The [Tradovate order-ID guide](https://docs.pickmytrade.trade/docs/find-order-ids-in-tradovate/) shows how to retrieve those identifiers. Share required IDs privately with support; redact tokens and passwords, not the evidence needed to trace the order.

## Final checklist before using the copier {#final-checklist-before-using-the-copier}

Finish the setup by checking behavior, not just saved settings. Keep a written follower list and expected quantities, then compare those values with a complete demo round trip. Use the same process after changing accounts, access, multipliers or the source interface.

- One correct admin account is selected.
- All intended followers are connected, active and authorized.
- Each expected quantity matches its multiplier.
- No unintended second route copies the same trade.
- The copier is running before the new source order.
- Entry, protection and exit have been verified on every demo follower.
- Each account’s position-size and risk limits have been checked.
- The current broker and prop-firm rules permit the arrangement.

Prop-firm rules depend on the firm and account stage. Check permission for your exact source and follower accounts. Separating accounts does not by itself make every copying or hedging arrangement permissible. Keep current policy checks separate from the technical connection test.

## Frequently asked questions {#frequently-asked-questions}

**Do I need webhook alerts for the Manual Trade Copier?**

Not for the manual workflow described here. It copies orders placed on the selected admin account. TradingView strategy or indicator automation uses a separate alert configuration. If you want one alert to trade several accounts directly, use multi-account alert routing rather than assuming the manual copier is required.

**Can I copy to accounts under a different Tradovate login?**

Yes. The documented setup uses a separate connected PickMyTrade account for the other Tradovate login and its token/account details. Check subscription and access requirements, activate the follower, and verify a demo trade before including the additional login in your live copying group.

**What multiplier gives three contracts to every follower?**

If the source order is already three contracts, set each follower’s multiplier to 1. The multiplier acts on the source quantity independently for each destination. It is not the total number of followers or the combined contracts across the group.

**Will stop-loss and take-profit orders copy?**

The manual copier documentation explicitly describes market-entry brackets, but also contains conflicting statements about other entry types. Test one TP/SL pair with a market entry first and confirm non-market bracket support. Trailing, automatic breakeven and multi-target setups are listed separately as unsupported.

**Does a successful master trade prove every follower filled?**

No. Check each follower’s submitted order, status, filled quantity and position. Accounts execute independently, and a follower may be working, rejected or filled differently. Use copier history and broker records together instead of inferring success from the master’s position.
