# AlertDragon vs PickMyTrade: Webhook Routing Compared

Type alertdragon.com into a browser today and you won’t land on a Tradovate automation dashboard. You’ll get a blank “Loading…” page, then a bounce to a redirect domain that has nothing to do with trading. The client login does exactly the same thing.

We checked on September 14, 2026, and that result changes what a fair comparison has to do.

So this article does three jobs. It rebuilds how AlertDragon routed a TradingView alert as the service last ran, using its archived site and terms of use. It puts PickMyTrade’s routing next to that, field by field. Finally, it covers what to do if your alerts still point at an AlertDragon URL, because those alerts haven’t stopped firing.

## Is AlertDragon Still Working? {#is-alertdragon-still-working}

Not at its own address, as of September 14, 2026. Every AlertDragon URL we tried, including the client login, served a redirect to an unrelated ad network. The domain also no longer publishes mail records. We found no shutdown announcement, so treat this as an observed status, not a confirmed closure.

We ran six checks that morning, from the command line and in a real browser, then repeated them later that day to make sure nothing had changed. Here’s what each one returned.

The history fills in the rest. The domain’s registry record was last changed on August 22, 2026. The last archived copy of the working AlertDragon site we found is dated February 18, 2026, and its most recent public customer review is from November 2025.

None of this proves the company closed. Services move domains, and a broken DNS setting can be fixed in an afternoon. That said, AlertDragon’s own terms reserved the right to stop providing the platform without prior notice, and nothing we found points to a new home.

So what does a comparison look like when one side can’t be reached? It compares the design each tool chose, because that design decides what happens to your Tradovate account when a vendor goes quiet. It’s also the part most traders never look at until they need it.

## How Did AlertDragon Route a TradingView Alert? {#how-did-alertdragon-route-a-tradingview-alert}

**AlertDragon** was a one-broker webhook bridge. It cost $55 a month or $499 a year and only placed orders in Tradovate personal accounts. You bought Tradovate’s API Access add-on, generated a key from a live account, and AlertDragon used the resulting tokens to place orders whenever your webhook arrived.

### What you had to buy before the first alert {#what-you-had-to-buy-before-the-first-alert}

**Tradovate’s API Access add-on** is a monthly subscription that lets a tool holding your own key place orders through Tradovate’s API. It ran $25 a month when AlertDragon’s FAQ was written, and the FAQ said so plainly. Tradovate only issues API keys from a live account holding more than $1,000, although once the key existed AlertDragon could also trade demo accounts. Its single “Gold” plan included unlimited demo accounts.

Prop firm accounts were out. AlertDragon’s FAQ answered “Can this automate prop account trading?” with a flat no, describing the product as personal-account automation through API access only.

### What happened when an alert fired {#what-happened-when-an-alert-fired}

AlertDragon’s setup videos are no longer public, so we analyzed its archived terms of use to rebuild the flow. The terms describe four steps:

1. You switched on an “Automated Trading Request” for an alert in the AlertDragon dashboard, with an optional minimum or maximum it called a Trade Size Limit.
2. TradingView sent the webhook to AlertDragon’s servers on Amazon Web Services.
3. AlertDragon placed the order using authentication tokens retrieved from your Tradovate account.
4. You got an SMS or email when the trade executed.

AlertDragon advertised execution in under 200 milliseconds, but we can’t test that claim now, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

One clause in those terms matters more today than it did then. If a payment failed, AlertDragon suspended the account and switched every active trading request off. You then had to turn each one back on by hand. The on/off switch for your automation lived inside AlertDragon’s dashboard, which is exactly the part you can’t reach now.

AlertDragon’s design kept three routing controls outside the trader’s own alert text. They were the on/off state of each alert, its Trade Size Limit, and the Tradovate token that placed the order. All three lived on AlertDragon’s servers. As a result, once the dashboard became unreachable, a trader had no way to view or switch off any of them from AlertDragon’s side.

## How Does PickMyTrade Route the Same Alert? {#how-does-pickmytrade-route-the-same-alert}

PickMyTrade handles an incoming alert in under 200 milliseconds on its side, then routes it by the fields in your JSON rather than by a dashboard toggle. You link your Tradovate login through OAuth, live or demo, so there’s no API key to generate and no $25 add-on to buy.

That connection step is where the two models split. With AlertDragon, the credential that could trade your account was a key you generated and handed over. With PickMyTrade, it’s an OAuth link to your Tradovate login, made under PickMyTrade’s own integration with Tradovate. Prop firm accounts? PickMyTrade’s [Tradovate FAQ](https://pickmytrade.trade/broker-faq/tradovate-faq/) says any firm running on Tradovate works the same way.

Tradovate’s real-time market data is still a separate charge, around $12 a month for a non-professional CME Level I bundle. Who charges for it? Tradovate, not the bridge, so it isn’t part of either tool’s price.

### What the alert message actually carries {#what-the-alert-message-actually-carries}

**A PickMyTrade alert message** is a JSON object that tells the router who you are, which account to hit, and what order to build. Here’s a trimmed version of the strategy template PickMyTrade generates:

Each field does one routing job. `token` proves the alert is yours, `account_id` picks the Tradovate account, and `data` accepts buy, sell or close. You can size with `quantity` or let `risk_percentage` calculate it. For example, stops and targets can be set in price, dollars or percent. Separate fields handle trailing stops, breakeven, and updating an existing TP or SL instead of stacking a new one.

You don’t write any of this by hand. The dashboard builds it, and you paste it into the alert’s message box along with the webhook URL it gives you. ### One alert, many accounts {#one-alert-many-accounts}

The `multiple_accounts` array covers something AlertDragon’s public site never described. One TradingView alert fires once, and PickMyTrade places the order in every listed account, each with its own `quantity_multiplier` or risk percentage. A 2 on the second account means that account trades double the base size.

In PickMyTrade, fan-out is part of the alert message rather than a dashboard setting. Each entry in the multiple_accounts array carries its own token, account ID and quantity multiplier. ## The Real Difference Is Where the Controls Live {#the-real-difference-is-where-the-controls-live}

Both tools claimed execution under 200 milliseconds, so speed doesn’t separate them. What separates them is where the controls live. AlertDragon kept routing rules and on/off switches inside its own dashboard. PickMyTrade writes the routing into each alert’s JSON and gives every connected account its own pause switch.

&gt; **The part nobody checks:** a bridge’s dashboard is a convenience, not a kill switch. When the dashboard disappears, only two switches are left. You can delete the alert in TradingView, and you can revoke access or flatten at the broker. That’s true of every bridge, ours included.

PickMyTrade’s pause is useful precisely because it’s narrow. Pausing an account means alerts still arrive but aren’t processed or executed, so you can stop one account without rebuilding anything. However, a pause inside any vendor’s app only works while that app is reachable, which is why the last-resort control should always sit with your broker.

A second difference is portability. AlertDragon’s routing rules lived in toggles you couldn’t export, whereas PickMyTrade’s rules live in the alert text itself, written down in TradingView where you can read them. That sounds minor. It isn’t, the day you have to rebuild twenty alerts from memory.

## What Does It Cost to Route One Strategy for a Year? {#what-does-it-cost-to-route-one-strategy-for-a-year}

For a first year, AlertDragon’s monthly plan plus Tradovate’s API add-on came to $960, or $799 on its $499 annual plan. PickMyTrade costs $600 billed monthly, $480 billed quarterly, and $350 on its current annual sale. Tradovate market data isn’t in any of these figures, since it’s billed apart from any bridge.

Those totals assume both services are running. Right now, one isn’t, so the more useful question is what you’re still paying for.

Tradovate’s $25-a-month API Access add-on is the cost that outlives AlertDragon. Tradovate bills it, not the bridge, and nothing about a vendor’s website going dark cancels it. If a trader bought it only for AlertDragon, that’s $300 a year for a connection with nothing on the other end. It stops only after they cancel it in Tradovate’s Application Settings.

Then check the AlertDragon charge itself. A monthly subscriber can find the last billing date on a card statement. Did you prepay the $499 annual plan? Then the date you paid tells you how much of that year you can’t use. Your card issuer is the place to ask about a charge for a service you can’t reach.

## What Happens to Alerts Still Pointed at AlertDragon? {#what-happens-to-alerts-still-pointed-at-alertdragon}

They keep firing, and nothing trades. TradingView still sends each alert to the old URL and cancels any request that takes longer than three seconds. We sent a harmless test request to three AlertDragon addresses, and all three came back with an HTTP 302 redirect, not an order confirmation.

The test body was a one-line JSON message with no account data in it. Each of the three responses was an 11-byte “Redirecting” page from a different IP address, and a made-up subdomain resolved just as happily as the real ones. That pattern fits a parked domain answering everything, not a trading app answering a webhook.

Two problems follow from that, and the second is worse than the first.

### Problem one: silent non-execution {#problem-one-silent-non-execution}

Your strategy looks healthy in TradingView, because the alert still triggers on schedule and the alert log still shows activity. The only place the failure shows up is your Tradovate order history, which stays empty. That’s a nuisance for entries. It’s a real risk for exits. Did an AlertDragon alert open a position whose exit was supposed to come from a later alert? Then that position has no managed exit today, unless a bracket order is already resting at Tradovate.

### Problem two: your alert text goes somewhere new {#problem-two-your-alert-text-goes-somewhere-new}

Every time an old alert fires, TradingView posts its full message body to whichever servers now answer for that domain. Whatever AlertDragon had you paste into that message goes along with it. Every single time.

What does the current operator do with incoming requests? We don’t know, and you don’t need to either. The fix is the same regardless: delete or repoint those alerts, and cut off the Tradovate credential that AlertDragon held. The same logic applies to any bridge, including PickMyTrade, whose alert token you should rotate if it ever leaks.

## How Do You Move a Strategy Off AlertDragon? {#how-do-you-move-a-strategy-off-alertdragon}

Work in three phases: secure Tradovate, stop the bills, then rebuild and test each alert on demo. PickMyTrade’s 5-day free trial needs no card, so the whole test can finish before you pay anything. Six steps cover it, and the first two don’t touch PickMyTrade at all.

### Step 1: How do you secure the Tradovate account first? {#step-1-how-do-you-secure-the-tradovate-account-first}

Flatten or protect anything AlertDragon left open, then revoke the key. Tradovate’s API keys live under Application Settings on the API Access page, where you created the one for AlertDragon, so remove that key there. Can’t find a remove option on your version of the page? Ask Tradovate support to revoke it.

### Step 2: What should you cancel? {#step-2-what-should-you-cancel}

If nothing else uses your Tradovate API key, cancel the API Access add-on in the Add-Ons section of Application Settings. That’s the $25 a month from the cost chart above. Then check your card for AlertDragon’s last charge and renewal date, so you know whether an annual renewal is still coming.

### Step 3: How do you connect Tradovate to PickMyTrade? {#step-3-how-do-you-connect-tradovate-to-pickmytrade}

Create a PickMyTrade account, link your Tradovate login through OAuth, and choose demo first. No API key or add-on is involved. If you run more than one Tradovate account, connect them all now so they show up when you build the alert.

### Step 4: How do you rebuild each alert? {#step-4-how-do-you-rebuild-each-alert}

Generate the alert in PickMyTrade for the right account, symbol and order settings. Then open the TradingView alert and paste two things: the new webhook URL in the Notifications tab and the generated JSON in the message box. For strategy alerts, deleting and recreating the alert is cleaner than editing, because TradingView ties an alert to the strategy settings it was created with.

### Step 5: Which contract symbol should the alert send? {#step-5-which-contract-symbol-should-the-alert-send}

Send the exact contract, not the continuous symbol. Mid-September 2026 is a live example, since September equity index futures expire on Friday, September 18. PickMyTrade moves its continuous symbol to the next contract four days before expiry and warns you six days out. It doesn’t roll open positions for you, though. ### Step 6: How do you prove it works before going live? {#step-6-how-do-you-prove-it-works-before-going-live}

Fire one alert on a 1-minute chart against the demo account. Then confirm three things: the order appears in PickMyTrade’s alert log, it fills in Tradovate, and the size matches. Only then switch the connection to live. ## Which Routing Model Fits You Now? {#which-routing-model-fits-you-now}

If you ran one Tradovate personal account, AlertDragon sold simplicity for $55 a month. That need hasn’t gone away, but the product serving it can’t be reached. PickMyTrade covers the same single-account case and adds what AlertDragon ruled out: prop firm accounts, several accounts per alert, and brokers beyond Tradovate.

That’s not an argument for picking a bridge on features, though, because what happened to AlertDragon’s domain is an argument for picking one on how it fails.

So ask four questions of any bridge you’re considering, including us:

- Where’s the last-resort kill switch?
- Can you read each alert’s routing without logging in to the vendor?
- Can you revoke the vendor’s access from the broker side in under a minute?
- Does anyone answer support today?

What if AlertDragon comes back at its old address? Then check the same things before reconnecting a key: a working login, current terms, a support reply, and some public explanation of what happened. We’d want all four.

**Is AlertDragon shut down?** 

We can’t confirm a shutdown, and we found no announcement. On September 14, 2026, alertdragon.com and client.alertdragon.com both redirected to an unrelated ad network. The domain published no mail records, and AlertDragon’s Discord invite had expired. Until the company says otherwise, treat the service as unreachable and don’t reconnect a Tradovate key to it.

 
 
**Did AlertDragon support prop firm accounts?** 

No. AlertDragon’s own FAQ said it handled personal account automation through Tradovate API access only. It answered the prop firm question with a direct no. It supported Tradovate demo accounts, but generating the API key still required a live Tradovate account holding more than $1,000.

 
 
**Do I need Tradovate’s $25 API add-on to use PickMyTrade?** 

No. PickMyTrade links your Tradovate login through OAuth under its own integration with Tradovate, so you don’t generate a personal API key or pay the $25-per-month API Access add-on. Tradovate still bills real-time market data separately, around $12 a month for a non-professional CME Level I bundle.

 
 
**Can one TradingView alert trade several Tradovate accounts?** 

Yes, in PickMyTrade. The alert JSON takes a multiple_accounts array, and each entry has its own token, account ID, and a risk percentage or quantity multiplier. One alert firing once places the order in every listed account, so a multiplier of 2 trades double the base quantity.

 
 
**What should I do with the Tradovate API key I made for AlertDragon?** 

Revoke it. Open Application Settings in Tradovate, go to the API Access page, and remove the key, or ask Tradovate support to do it. If nothing else uses API access, cancel the $25-per-month add-on too. Tradovate keeps billing it whether or not AlertDragon is running.

AlertDragon did one job: TradingView alerts into Tradovate personal accounts. By its own documentation, it did that through a key you generated and switches you flipped in its dashboard. As of September 14, 2026, that dashboard is unreachable, and the domain answers every request with ad redirects.

If you were a customer, the order is simple. Check Tradovate for open positions, delete or repoint the old alerts, revoke the key, and cancel the $25 add-on. Then rebuild on a bridge whose routing you can read in the alert itself and whose access you can cut at the broker.
